Deborah Sawyer Participates in Minimum Wage Roundtable

At the invitation of Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Deborah Sawyer participated in a roundtable discussion with other business owners to voice support for increasing the minimum wage.

"We made the decision long ago to pay our employees a decent wage," Sawyer, EDI's President and CEO, said during the discussion held on July 28, 2014 at Dimo's Pizza in Wicker Park. "We're a small business and in order to have productive employees, they can't be working second and third jobs just to make ends meet."

Emanuel would like to boost the city's minimum wage to $13 an hour by 2018. The minimum wage currently is $7.25 an hour at the federal level and $8.25 in Illinois.
