Environmental Design International inc. (EDI) is pleased to welcome Alex Waite, PE, as Director, Civil and Construction Engineering. With a diverse engineering career that spans more than 30 years, Alex is ready to leverage his expertise in construction engineering, project management, quality assurance, and civil design for EDI’s clients.
“I’m eager to work with EDI’s team of civil and construction engineers to deliver the best possible project outcomes for our clients,” Waite said. “This role is a bit of a homecoming, since I had worked for EDI as a Resident Engineer several years ago.”
Before taking on his new position at EDI, Alex most recently worked at AECOM, USA, Inc. as a Quality Assurance and Materials Testing (QAMT) Manager for the O’Hare Modernization Program. Alex has also served as Project Manager, Resident Engineer, and Senior Inspector on complex projects for IDOT, Illinois Tollway, CDOT, and the CDA. In addition, he has significant experience on projects for municipal clients throughout Northeastern Illinois. He is also an experienced bridge designer, an NHI Certified Bridge inspector, and an IDOT Bridge Inspection Program Manager.

Alex received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois in Urbana. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois and Wisconsin.
