Digital Chicago Data Center

The Digital Chicago Data Center is comprised of a 23-acre property with a long history of multiple industrial uses which include a creosote wood treatment facility, cement factory, and electronics manufacturer, among others. Prior work at the property during previous iterations of development identified hazards to human health and the environment from contaminated soils and groundwater.

EDI provided environmental oversight and IEPA Site Remediation Program (SRP) services at the phased construction of the Digital Chicago Data Center. Work on the project evolved from an initial three month assignment into an ongoing multi-year, multi-department effort. When fully complete, the industrial scale will house redundant computer system, power supplies, and cooling systems.

Throughout the course of the 17 month project, EDI provided services such as continuous air monitoring, soil investigations, remediation plan development, and remedial oversight. EDI also performed environmental inspection for the project, and provided turnkey environmental remediation and abatement services.
