During the Innovations in Construction, Asphalt & Transportation (ICAT) 2019 Conference, Leslie M. Sawyer presented three $1500 Deborah M. Sawyer- ICAT STEM Student Scholarship Awards, and three $200 Deborah M. Sawyer- ICAT STEM Student Merit Awards.
The winners of the awards are high school students that showed outstanding academic achievement in STEM, and school and community involvement. The ICAT STEM Student Scholarship Award Winners included: Cameron Bell from Richwoods High School, Corena Adams from Peoria High School, and Jaylan Johnson from Manual Academy.
The Deborah M. Sawyer- ICAT STEM Student Awards began in 2017 in honor of the late Deborah M. Sawyer. An entrepreneur and well-known business leader, Ms. Sawyer was a champion of educational opportunities for young people, especially in STEM.
