Village of Niles

EDI was contracted by the Village of Niles to provide GPS survey grade data collection for portions of the public sewer and water system. The mapped information is to be used by the Village for daily maintenance activities, providing services to the general public and capital improvement planning.

EDI recorded general information about the inspection of each structure, including type of asset, date, time, name of field personnel present and site number or designation. Data management included weekly downloading of field survey data and digital photographs to the Village of Niles' GIS server.

This project was completed with survey grade GPS equipment, utilizing a Real Time Kinematic (RTK) network. A cursory check of existing Village of Niles control monuments was also completed as an ancillary component of this project. EDI provided recommendations to the Village for updating the existing control to current NGS standards.
