United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA)

EDI's relationship with USEPA Region 5 began in 2000. Since then, EDI has participated on the Superfund Technical Assessment & Response Team (START 2) and has performed a wide variety of document review, field sampling, and field oversight activities. EDI staff have worked on EPA projects in several different states, most notably sampling in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and an oil slick in Indiana and in Michigan. In 2001, EPA Region 5 awarded EDI a nearly $3 million Superfund Technical Assistance Team (STAT) Contract. The USEPA Remedial Action Contract (RAC) 2 was awarded to CH2M Hill with EDI as a significant team member. To date, EDI has participated in remedial action oversight and sediment sampling in Ashtabula, Ohio, assisting with Clean up Validation on an old steel mill site in Indiana, and engineering support services for remedial investigation/feasibility for a site in Illinois. EDI was also contracted to assist the EPA's Brownfields Section with community outreach, administration, meetings and reporting. In addition, EDI supported the USEPA's Chemical Emergency Preparedness and Prevention Section (CEPPS) as part of their innovative emergency response exercise programs. EDI's role was to support the section's work with the State Emergency Response Commissions (SERCs) emphasis on terrorism and all hazard planning.
