Since joining EDI in 1999, Scott has successfully managed several environmental projects of all sizes, including those for EDI’s major public sector clients such as the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), the US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), the Chicago Department of Fleet and Facility Management (2FM), the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA), the Chicago Department of Water Management (CDWM), and the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRDGC). Key projects of his include environmental monitoring for the Dan Ryan Reconstruction Project, extensive environmental assessment and remediation work for the O’Hare Modernization Program (OMP), and city-wide environmental assessment and investigation work for several City of Chicago departments and sister agencies.

Scott has recently accepted overall management and direction to our Industrial Hygiene Department.

Scott’s background in environmental consulting and construction encompasses environmental property assessments; indoor air quality studies; ambient air monitoring; lead and asbestos inspections; abatement design; subsurface investigations; underground and above ground storage tank management; and soil and groundwater remediation design.

Scott became interested in environmental consulting while he worked for an environmental drilling firm in college. Prior to EDI he worked for an Environmental Consulting firm out in Downers Grove for three years.

Scott’s most memorable project at EDI has been the IDOT/AECOM Dan Ryan Expressway Reconstruction Project. It was an ambient air monitoring project from 2004 through 2007, spanning ½ mile out east/west from 104th street north to 23rd street. At the time, it was considered the largest “green” construction project in the U.S.

Scott is a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) and Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) licensed Asbestos Inspector. Scott is also a member of the Illinois Association of Environmental Professionals (IAEP) and the Alliance for Hazardous Materials Professionals (AHMP).

Scott’s advice for someone who is in college, or looking to start a career in Environmental Consulting:

“Learn as much as possible about the industry early on. Make connections and join organizations to develop your personal professional network. Be passionate about what you do and take ownership of every aspect of your work/career – it will pay off 10-fold later in your career.”
