Roosevelt University

Roosevelt University is greatly expanding its presence in downtown Chicago by constructing the second tallest university building in the nation. Expected to open in January 2012, the 32-story building will provide space for classrooms, laboratories, recreation, student services, Roosevelt's business college, and student housing.

EDI provided professional services associated with the development and construction of this "vertical campus," which included Civil Engineering, Environmental Consulting, and Professional Land Surveying. Involved in the early planning stages, EDI had a role in determining design concepts and approaches for development.

EDI's tasks included:

  • Preparing preliminary and final site geometric, grading and drainage plans.
  • Preparing final storm water detention volume calculations and coordinating the design with location of the detention system.
  • Preparation of sidewalk details.
  • Providing technical specifications.
  • Providing final engineering construction documents.
  • Completing the site survey, including utility locations, for 425 S. Wabash Avenue.
  • Completing a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) of project site.
