Reporting directly to EDI’s President and CEO Leslie J. Sawyer, Mark will oversee the firm’s operations in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic. He will also help continue EDI’s expansion on the East Coast, and grow the firm’s portfolio of environmental and engineering projects nationwide.

A highly accomplished engineering leader, Mark brought more than 30 years of experience in operations, and program and project management to EDI. As he heads up operations firm-wide in his new position, he will continue to leverage that background to support EDI technical department leads and staff providing high-quality civil and construction engineering, surveying, environmental consulting, and industrial hygiene services.

“Mark was able to hit the ground running in his new, expanded operations role,” Leslie Sawyer said. “He’s a seasoned leader who is committed to help drive the success of EDI, including every EDI department and employee. The staff and I are happy to be working with Mark in this capacity.”

“I am extremely excited to be given this opportunity with EDI,” said Mark Smith. “EDI’s 30-year track record of Excellence, Dedication, and Innovation provides an ideal platform for future growth and success.”

Before joining EDI, Mark worked at Tetra Tech, Inc., for 23 years in a variety of leadership positions, eventually as Vice President and Northeast Regional Manager for Tetra Tech NUS. He is also experienced in the small business arena, having held leadership positions with Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) environmental, engineering, and architectural firms.
