Chicago Police 12th District Station
EDI was contracted to investigate and characterize existing environmental site conditions, develop design documents for management of site soils based on the investigation and characterization findings, and provide environmental construction management and oversight during site preparation and construction phases for the development of the new Chicago Police 12th District Station. EDI also provided survey services which included a boundary survey for the property, an ALTA/ACSM land title survey, and topographic survey.
The new station will follow a prototype design with 44,000 square feet available in a two-story building. It is projected to achieve Gold certification under the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED® standards. Sustainable elements will include a waste heat recovery system, a green roof, the use of recycled materials in construction and the placement of light colored roofing and paving surfaces to reduce the heat island effect.
