Community Involvement Update

Our firm will strive to always be a good partner in the Chicago community. Building on EDI's history of connecting with the community to support many important causes, Chairman and CEO Leslie J. Sawyer, management, and staff continue to be actively engaged in organizations and events that are in line with our mission to "improve the quality of life for the community we serve."

In April, EDI supported Young Women's Leadership Charter School (YWLCS) at their annual Girl Power Luncheon at the Girl Power Mentor level. EDI has a long-standing relationship with YWLCS which began with Deborah M. Sawyer who once served as the school's Board President. Also in April, EDI supported the Associated Colleges of Illinois (ACI) 65th Anniversary Benefit Reception. Leslie Sawyer is an ACI Corporate Trustee.

In addition, EDI surveyors are active with the Illinois Professional Land Surveyors Association (IPLSA), which has started an outreach initiative to attract young people into the field of Land Surveying.

Recently Bill Fleming, PLS and Lea Ann Graves, PLS, participated in the Illinois School Counselor Association Annual Conference in Rosemont. The objective was to get the word out about educational programs, scholarships and various other opportunities in surveying so that school counselors might pass that on to students with an interest in a STEM career that incorporates a love of the outdoors.

Looking ahead to the summer, EDI will be sponsoring three golf outings which support Girls in the Game, OCSA (Ovarian Cancer Symptom Awareness), and the Forest Preserve Foundation.
