City of Chicago Department of Environment
EDI was awarded an indefinite delivery contract for multiple task orders in support of real estate transactions. EDI bids for projects ranging from Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), UST removals, Remediation, and Illinois Site Remediation Program (SRP) requirements. EDI has been awarded over 30 tasks under this contract. Notable projects include:
At the Chicago Housing Authority's ABLA Homes Phase I Redevelopment site, which includes about 16 acres north and south of Roosevelt Road, EDI conducted a Phase II ESA, a subsurface investigation, UST removal oversight, and developed a Soil Management Plan. EDI is providing oversight to construction activities to verify compliance with the Soil Management Plan. EDI has submitted a Corrective Action Completion Report for portions of the site and received NFR letters.
For a site located at 5th and Arthington, EDI performed Phase I and II ESAs, magnetometer survey, and found a UST. EDI recommended remedial action for proposed development using engineered barriers. EDI worked under difficult conditions and deadline constraints on an additional project oversight of asbestos abatement in a confined space under a vaulted sidewalk.
Through a grant from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), the DOE contracted EDI to perform investigation services, SRP reporting and remediation oversight for numerous locations throughout the city. EDI is currently performing SRP activities for two sites including the preparation of SRP-required reports (CSIR, ROR, RAP and RACRs) and the performance of remediation oversight for a former industrial property being converted to a city park at 24th and Federal.
