Deborah Sawyer Speaks at Chicago Ideas Week

EDI's President and CEO, Deborah Sawyer, delivered a speech during Chicago Ideas Week (CIW) on October 9th, 2012. Ms. Sawyer presented "Renewable Energy: Renewing Communities" as part of CIW's Energy - Scalable Solutions program.

As the nation struggles to meet increasing energy demands while expanding our capacity to produce clean and renewable energy, another challenge looms -- what to do with the nearly 500,000 potentially contaminated sites in need of remediation and development. A USEPA initiative called RE-Powering America's Land encourages the siting of renewable energy projects on brownfields and other former industrial sites, like Exelon City Solar, located in Chicago's West Pullman neighborhood. EDI was Civil Engineer of Record for this award-winning project.

In her speech, Ms. Sawyer talked about EDI's role on Exelon City Solar. She also addressed similiar projects located across the country that are currently in operation, and proposed projects here in the Midwest.

Her presentation is below. A video of her talk is located here at the Chicago Ideas Week site.
