Message from the Chairman & CEO

As Strong As Ever and Moving Forward!

EDI is moving forward by expanding services, adding staff, and growing our new office in Baltimore, MD. As our team implements the goals I have set for EDI, they remain dedicated to the principles of Excellence, Dedication, and Innovation.  I am confident that my late sister Deborah M. Sawyer would have been proud of the EDI staff every step of the way during my leadership transition.
I have been at the helm of EDI since Deborah's passing on August 7, 2016. I've been an EDI board member for nearly 20 years, and I have always been passionate about this unique firm and its excellent employees. As Chairman and CEO, I've been enjoying the excitement and challenges of taking EDI to the next level. Together, we're moving toward my vision of a strategic and dynamic firm in this complex and evolving industry.
With 2017 nearly half over, EDI is as strong as ever. Of course, EDI's continued success is primarily due to having a wonderful and talented management team consisting of President and Chief Operating Officer Claire M. Williams and extremely knowledgeable technical department managers who are fully committed to the EDI mission. Together, we are ensuring that EDI continues to provide best-in-class professional services to all our valued clients.

This ongoing high-level of service quality and safety is evident in the recognition EDI continues to receive from our clients and partners in the community. For the second consecutive year, EDI was honored at ComEd's Annual Diverse Partner Celebration. Last year we won the Diverse Supplier Community Partnership Award and this year we were extremely honored to receive the President's Award.
In early 2016, EDI opened a satellite office in Baltimore, MD. While our team there is busy working on projects for our utility clients such as Baltimore Gas and Electric, we were recently certified as an MBE/WBE firm by the City of Baltimore and expect to expand into the public sector there shortly.
We're not stopping there. I am excited that we are now able to provide Accessibility Consulting Services with the recent addition to our staff of Jeoi Hun Lee, Ph.D., KIRA.
We are also excited to have received several new contract awards from our clients in the private and public sectors, including Exelon, Argus Consulting, and the Illinois Tollway.
Building on EDI's history of supporting many important charitable causes, I am staying true to a personal interest of mine - community involvement and expanding educational opportunities for young women, and diverse and disadvantaged students. EDI will strive to always be a good partner in the Chicago community. For example, I was recently named a Corporate Trustee for the Associated Colleges of Illinois (ACI), and will be establishing a scholarship through this 65-year-old nonprofit. We also have established a scholarship through the Illinois Conference on Asphalt and Transportation (ICAT), and sponsored YWLCS at their annual Girl Power fundraising event. This summer, EDI is continuing our longstanding support of organizations such as Girls in the Game and the Forest Preserve Foundation at their golf outings. We have added a new organization to our list - Ovarian Cancer Symptom Awareness (OCSA) - and we will be supporting them at their golf outing as well!
I am looking forward to the future with EDI and am excited to see what the next half of 2017 brings, and beyond.
