CDWM Infrastructure Renovations & Upgrades

Since 2008, EDI has been providing environmental engineering services for several complex renovation and upgrade projects at the City of Chicago Department of Water Management (CDWM) pumping stations and purification plants.

For the Springfield Avenue Pumping Station electrification project, EDI provided comprehensive environmental inspection of the facility, including the identification of asbestos-containing materials, lead-based painted surfaces, and other hazardous materials throughout the building that could be impacted by renovation activities. EDI provided onsite abatement oversight at Springfield throughout the renovation process. EDI also provided similar services for the Central Park Pumping Station electrification project and upgrades at the South Water Purification Plant.

For the Jardine Water Purification Plant, EDI provided environmental observation services for multiple renovations at the plant and made recommendations regarding removal of observed hazardous materials and their associated costs. EDI continued to provide related services for the projects, including construction administration.
